Dustfinger and Farid were waiting anxiously for Orpheus, a reader that is able to
take out and place characters on a story. Orpheus had promised Dustfinger to
return him home, they agreed on it but the only thing that Dustfinger requested
was that Farid comes with him. While Orpheus was reading, there was a heavy wind and Dustfinger disappeared; he was back to the
story he belonged. Then Farid was waiting his turn but nothing happened because
Orpheus didn’t want to modify the story with new characters that never existed.
Suddenly, Farid felt a knife on his throat, it was Basta. Orpheus interfered calming the problem. While the three of them were talking, Basta’s
arm loosen a little enough for Farid to bite him and run away, he ran until his
legs didn’t respond, he fell and grab the paper that took Dustfinger to “Inkworld” and hid on a tree; Basta
shouted threatening him and people he knew specially Mo and Meggie by saying he
will kill them all. He found Gwin and went to search Meggie because she could
re-unite him with his master, Dustfinger.
Dustfinger was home he
couldn’t believe it. He touched every flower and remembered every creature
he
had once known. He was so happy to be back home but once in a while, Dustfinger missed Farid and his company. He crossed
the “Wayless Wood” into a cottage where he re-united with his friend
Cloud-Dancer where he was updated with the news that had happened 10 years ago.
Cloud-Dancer invited Dustfinger to perform his art for the Laughing prince grandson.
Dustfinger agreed because it was near his wife’s farm. When he finally saw Roxana, his wife, Dustfinger
couldn’t believe it because it has been 10 years since the last time he saw
her.Mo, Resa, Meggie, Darus and Elinor were living together at Elinor’s, they were all happy together. Mo had now its own workshop, Resa has found a way to communicate with her hands, Darus helped Elinor classify her books, and Meggie loved listening to stories based on her mother experience on Inkworld, even though this could cause a quarrel between them because Meggie wrote the stories down on a notebook. Farid had arrived at Elinors telling everyone what happened with Dustfinger. Elinor cured his feet which were full of scratches because he ran on the forest. Meggie couldn’t sleep
Mo read the letter Maggie had left them, he
was very sad about it, Resa was also depressed and everyone else in the house.
The doorbell rang, Elinor answered because Mo and Teresa were at the workshop
and Darius was upstairs. She opened the door and what a surprise she had found!
It was Orpheus, Basta, and Mortola. One by one, the three of them captured all in the house, then they
searched for Meggie with no result, still, Mortola didn’t believe them what had
happened to Meggie so she locked up Elinor, Darius, Mo, and Resa searching for the girl.
There was a quote on the book
that took my attention, it was when Dustfinger was going to be read on the book
and Farid asked if he was going to take Gwin:
“Gwin stays here, ´ he said. If he had announced that
he was planning to leave his right arm behind, Farid couldn’t have looked at
him more incredulously. ´Why are you staring to me like that? Well catch
ourselves another marten once we´re there, one that’s not so ready to bite.” (Funke, 8)
I can analyze form this quote
many things about Dustfinger’s behavior towards leaving Gwin on the world. You
should never leave your right hand arm behind because they have giving you the
support in tough times, even if it is an animal or a person, you can’t replace
them. In the parts that says “.. Well catch ourselves another marten…” reflects
that Dustfinger doesn’t care about leaving someone behind and replacing. When
you have a companion that in Dustfinger case has helped him on his journey, you
need to accept him with or without defects and learn to live with them because
a true friend doesn’t leaves no one behind.
Another quote that took my
attention because it made me remember when I was little, is when a child asks
Fengolio to tell a story for them:
“´Will you tell us another story about him today? Please! ´ ´Maybe! I
just admit…´” (Funke, 132)
This quote made me connect when I was little
and I stayed at my grandpas house were they used to tell us stories. Some of
the stories they told my sister and I were about horses and other about some
elephants. We used to get in our pajamas and get ready to bed so that my
grandpa could read us a story; when it was early; he used to tell us two. But
we always ask him to tell us more stories. My favorite was about a woman who
saved his love by scaring the horse away from the bad guys. I used to bother my
grandpa every night so that he read me that story.
I predict that in the next
chapters, there will be an unexpected change of events in the story. I think
that Meggie and Farid will find Dustfinger but after meeting with Firefox the
new leader after Capricon and scape from him by lies, so now they were the most
wanted of him since they stole a precious object. Dustfinger took them with
Fengolio and together thought in a solution to distract Firefox. They threw a
spell on them, giving enough time to think of a solution to take Meggie out of
the book. On the other hand, Mo was trying to get in the story by writing on the
lock room they were placed on. Mo did it appearing near Dustfinger’s wife. She
helped him search for Meggie and finally was re-united and went back to the
real world.

I really liked how you used the text features because it made your blog more appealing and easier to read and understnad what you tried to say. Also the enhancements were great because they all related to what you were trying to say on the quotes, overall your blog is very detailed wich is a good thing because it helps understand the book in a better and diffeent way. The only thing that you could improve on is explaining at the beggining a little more who are the characters because since its the second book the scenes and events that happen dosent really make sense. I give you a 26/32

DeleteI really like you blog. It is very interesting and fun to read. I loved the way you made some key words bigger and in different colors. I also like a lot the pictures that you chose because they reflect what you are trying to say. A thing you might do to improve is give a little background information for the reader to understand what the first book is about and how are the characters. But still I loved your blog.
